Sebastiano Seminara

Dottore di ricerca
Dottorato in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science - XXXVII Ciclo
Tutor: Stefano Giovanni La Malfa
Sezione di appartenenza: Arboricoltura e Genetica Agraria
  • 2021 - 2024: PhD course in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science, University of Catania (Cycle XXXVII- PON). Research project: Development of molecular markers for the traceability of plants and derived products for the protection of the citrus sector. The aim of the project is the development, through the identification and subsequent validation, of SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) markers aimed at DNA fingerprinting of different sweet orange accessions and their derived products, belonging to the Tarocco cultivar-population. Molecular markers are reliable and easily accessible tools, leading to a precise varietal identification possible at every stage of the production chain, from nursery to table.
  • Oct 2020 - Nov 2021: Research grant, Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A), University of Catania. Supervisor: Prof. Gaetano Di Stefano. Research activity: “Molecular genetic characterisation of a segregating population for malsecco resistance”.
  • Jun 2020 - Oct 2020: Collaboration assignment, AgriUniTech S.r.l. Activity: collaboration in molecular breeding on fruit tree species.
  • 2020: Qualification as Agronomy and Forestry Doctor.
