Salvatore Privitera is currently Research Fellow at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A) of the University of Catania, for the scientific disciplinary group 07/AGRI-04 "Agricultural Engineering, Forestry and Biosystems", scientific disciplinary sector SSD AGRI-04/B "Agricultural Mechanics", within the research project PRIN 2022 PNRR - "Implementation of a digital tree to optimize technical and environmental performances of crop protection equipment - IMGROOT" (https://sites.google.com/icar.cnr.it/prin2022pnrr/).
In 2018, he obtained the Bachelor’s Degree in Planning and Protection of Territory and Landscape (L-21) at the University of Catania, with final vote of 106/110. In the same year, he enrolled in the course of Master’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies (LM-69) of the University of Catania, obtaining the title in 2021, with a final vote of 110/100 cum laude.
From January 2021 to February 2025 he attended the International PhD course in "Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science" (cycle XXXVII), at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A) of the University of Catania. As a visiting PhD student, he spent a total of 9 months at two different institutions: Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Viçosa, Brazil - Minas Gerais, MG) and Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food - ILVO (Merelbeke, Belgium). In February 2025, he obtained the title of Doctor of Philosophy with additional qualification of Doctor Europaeus, discussing the thesis entitled "Nozzle spray quality and spray deposition in agricultural treatments". Considering the joint agreement (Ministerial Decree n. 226/2021) between the University of Catania (Italy) and the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil), Salvatore obtained the double title of PhD in "Agricultural Engineering", at the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil, Minas Gerais - MG).
On 10/04/2025, the Board of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A) of the University of Catania confers him the title of Cultore della materia for the scientific disciplinary sector AGRI-04/ B "Agricultural mechanics".
