Luana Amoroso

Dottore di ricerca
Dottorato in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science - XXXIII Ciclo
Tutor: Giuseppe Muratore

Luana Amoroso, after full grades BSc in Food Science and Technology at Catania University, and an internship at a Public Control Agency for Food Fraud Repression, continued her studies receiving full grades MSc in Food Science and Technology, specializing in research activities involving food packaging field. She is currently a PhD student in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science (XXXIII cycle) at University of Catania, under the supervision of Professor Giuseppe Muratore. Her PhD work focuses on the enhancement of waste and by-products for the production of new high-performance sustainable materials, based on cellulose nanoparticles (nanocrystals and nanofibrils) for food packaging applications. Since January 2018, she has been working with PackLab team of the Department of Food Environmental and Nutritional Sciences (DeFens) of Milan University, in close collaboration with Professor Luciano Piergiovanni. Since January 2020, she has been spending a research period as visiting PhD student at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), working with the Cellulose & Wood Materials team, in the Department of Functional Materials of Dübendorf (Zurich).
