The general objective of this research project is to deepen the studies on the technological innovations applied in the context of extensive livestock systems by identifying new solutions for the management of grazing beef cattle that can support farmers in maintaining adequate conditions of animal welfare by monitoring the behavior with the help of modern IoT-based systems. In the context of this general objective, the research project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using accelerometric thresholds for the automatic detection of the behavior of cattle grazing by using three-dimensional accelerometers, sensors that can measure/record the movements made by the cow (neck/head/foot) on 3 axes (x, y, z), in terms of acceleration (g). These sensors will be implemented with LP_GPS collars that can detect the position of the animals in the time and space.
