Master in Agriculture Science and Technology and PhD in Biology of Mediterranean Species (Productivity of Cultivated Plants), Thesis: “A Study of Nitrogen Fixation and its Relationship to Nitrogen Nutrition in Grain Legumes”; He is Researcher in Agronomy and Crop Science at the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environment (Di3A) - University of Catania - since 1999.

On June1993 the Sicily Region - Department of Agriculture and Forestry, hired him and from November 1995 to July 1999 he has worked as Agricultural Technical Manager at the Stazione Consorziale Sperimentale di Granicoltura per la Sicilia a Caltagirone where he conducted research on biological, physiological, and agronomic traits of herbaceous crops in open field.

From 2000 to 2005, Principles of Dryland and irrigation techniques; from 2005 to 2010, Agronomic Techniques of agricultural fertilization and Herbaceous crops cultivation for environmental protection from 2011 to 2013 Farming Systems and Soil-Conservation

Currently teaches "Agronomic Practices for Soil Conservation" (LM75); - In the course of  Agronomia Ambientale e Inerbimenti the Module Inerbimenti Naturali e Artificiali (L21); In the degree course in Biotechnology (L2) at the Department of Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences of the University of Catania - Morpho-biophysiology of Cultivated Herbaceous Plants

He has been supervisor of several experimental M.Sc. theses.

He was member of the PhD school in Food Production and Technology “Agricultural Chemistry and Eco compatibility", at the University of Catania where 2 PhD degree and at the University of Padua co-supervisor with Prof Maurizio Borin, (DAFNAE ) of two PhD students in Crop Sciences doctorate course.

Main research activities in agronomy and interdisciplinary research are focuses on sustainable agriculture, relationship agriculture/environment, and reuse of wastewater in agriculture.

Main research topic are:
agronomy and crop science; sustainable agroecosystems management; soil fertility; microbial biostimulant (mycorrhizal fungi and rhizobia bacteria); vegetated systems for water pollution control (macrophytes); constructed wetland; greenhouse gases emissions from constructed wetlands and soil; plants micro-propagation.
