REGIONAL AND URBAN PLANNING

The course will develop the competences related to regional planning.

Knowledge and understanding

-          general principles of planning systems at various territorial scales

-          content and key planning instruments, as well as the procedures for their preparation and approval

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding

-          reading and interpreting the technical documents of a territorial plan

-          producing simple analytical outputs using GIS software as part of a plan for a territory accessible to students

Prerequisites

-       Basic knowledge of mathematics

-       Basic skills in using GIS

The course includes lectures field trips and seminars

If it will be necessary to change the teaching to mixed or remote  mode, some changes could be introduced, in line with the program  planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Students will acquire a basic methods for understanding that the interpretation of processes of transformation of landscape and environment 

The course includes lectures with reference to international literature and relevant case studies

Students will be required to produce an exercise related to the study o an example of a regional plan.

The final examination is an oral test on the course content and a presentation of the exercise  

If it is required, the final exam could take place from remote.

Grades are awarded on a scale of 30 according to the following criteria:

• Not suitable (Fail)

Knowledge and understanding of the topic: significant deficiencies and inaccuracies

Analytical and synthesis skills: negligible; frequent generalizations

Use of references: completely inappropriate

• 18–20

Knowledge and understanding of the topic: very limited; evident flaws

Analytical and synthesis skills: barely sufficient

Use of references: barely appropriate

• 21–23

Knowledge and understanding of the topic: knowledge slightly above the minimum requirement

Analytical and synthesis skills: fair analytical and synthesis skills; arguments presented logically and coherently

Use of references: uses standard references

• 24–26

Knowledge and understanding of the topic: good knowledge

Analytical and synthesis skills: good analytical and synthesis skills; arguments presented coherently

Use of references: uses standard references

• 27–29

Knowledge and understanding of the topic: very good knowledge

Use of references: in-depth exploration of topics

• 30–30 cum laude
