Learning Objectives

The first part of the course will deal with the general aspects of plant virology, diagnostic methods, the main characteristics of viruses and viroids, the transmission, the epidemiology, the means of struggle and the defense strategy. The second part will include the study of the most important diseases caused by viruses and viroids that affect trees, herbaceous, and horticultural crops.


Detailed Course Content

The aim of the course is to enable students able to know the plant viruses, diagnostic methods and the control methods of viral diseases in order to limit the damage of this group of pathogens. The goal is to use efficient defense strategies in relation to the objectives and the environment, as well as to the correct execution of all farming operations that can prevent the spread of the virus in the open field and in protected environment.
