Learning Objectives

  • AGRONOMIA AMBIENTALE ED ECOLOGIA

This course provides the foundation for the study of quantitative relationships between human activities and environment through the knowledge concerning the structural and functional characteristics of natural ecosystems and agro-ecosystems. The course also aims to analyze human intervention on the factors determining agricultural production and their influence on the environment. The purpose is to identify methods and techniques for the construction of sustainable interventions on the territory.

  • Environmental Botany

The course aims to provide information about systematics, phylogenetics, taxonomic categories and botanical nomenclature, morphology, biology and ecology of Spermatophyta, environmental factors that regulate plants distribution, world plant formations and plant associations of the Mediterranean landscape. The student will acquire knowledge about plant cell, structure and morphology of Gymnosperms and Angiosperms, bioclimatic indices, phytoclimatic classifications, ecomorphology, plant life forms, geographical distribution of plant species, phytocoenosis and methodology for vegetation survey.

Detailed Course Content

  • AGRONOMIA AMBIENTALE ED ECOLOGIA

The course provides the basic knowledge about the habitat and the main ecological factors that regulate the formation and the characteristics of biological communities. Afterwards the course covers all the topics related to the structure, the energy flow and the cycle of matter in natural and agricultural ecosystems, defining the main components of the primary and secondary production and the processes that govern the development, the stability and the evolution as a function of the presence of ecological factors and the availability of resources. Finally the course examines the causes of the ecological crisis of modern agriculture, the development of agro-ecological thinking and the design of sustainable agricultural systems.
