2019-2022: PhD course in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science, University of Catania (grant financed by the National Operative Program (PON) “Research and Innovation” 2014-2020, line “Innovative doctorates with industrial characterization”). Research project: “Physiological studies on host plants and insecticide applications effects on the feeding behavior of plant sap-sucking insects and vectors of phytopathogenic microorganisms, for strengthening eco-compatible control of important diseases of agricultural crops. The aim of the PhD project is to study the feeding behavior of Hemiptera Sternorrhyncha in relation to the crop genotypes, the insecticide treatments (traditional and novel compounds) and the climatic conditions (Mediterranean and/or Tropical) affecting both plant and insect responses. In order to achieve the proposed goals, Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG) technique will be applied, to provide information about the insect feeding, the effects of insecticide treatments, virus transmission and plant resistance.
