Marcella Bucca is a Research Fellow in the context of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Mission 4 "Education and Research" – Component 2 "From Research to Business" – Investment 1.3, Extended Partnership "ON Foods - Research and innovation network on food and nutrition Sustainability, Safety and Security – Working ON Foods" – Spoke 1 – "Global Sustainability" – Scientific Discipline Sector AGRI-01/A "Agricultural, Food, and Rural Valuation Economics" – (formerly SSD AGR/01 "Rural Economics and Valuation"). Research title: “Perception of food quality towards sustainable food models.”

She graduated in Agricultural Sciences in 1998 with a grade of 110/110 with honors and was proposed for the IRFIS study award at the University of Catania. In 2002, she earned a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Policy from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Catania, and in 2003, she won a two-year Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Catania. Since 2005, she has been a "Subject Expert" in the field of courses related to SSD AGR/01 – Rural Economics and Valuation – and has been part of the Exam Commission. From 2007 to 2009, she was a Contract Professor in the Degree Program in Agro-Food Business Economics at the University of Catania – Nicosia (EN) campus.

She has collaborated in various research activities at the University of Catania in relation to several projects, particularly including: PRIN (2004-2005) funded by the MIUR "Evaluation of the distribution of beneficial insects in Sicilian protected crops"; European Project INTERREG III C: "Cooperation to upgrade tourism and regional products" (COTOUR); ATECADE research project "Economic analyses of the production and market of carob and its derivatives"; Research project on "Research and experiments in the field of Italian citrus farming"; Research projects under Measure 10.4 of the POP Sicily 1994/99, particularly on "Economic analysis of dairy cattle farms," "Improvement of off-season floricultural production," and "Commercial enhancement of blood orange juices."

In July 2015, she was appointed President of the Evaluation Commission for special agricultural, food, and forestry research projects at MIPAAF (ref. Departmental Decree Dipeisr n. 0002695 of July 27, 2015). From December 15, 2017, to May 2021, she was a member of the Commission for evaluating the eligibility of applications for support submitted by the Managing Authority within the National Rural Development Program (PSRN) and the National Rural Network (RRN) at MIPAAF (ref. D.D. Dipeisr n. 5387 of 15/12/2017 and D.D. Dipeisr n. 4063 of 28/10/2019).

She is the author and co-author of articles related to agricultural and agro-food topics published in national and international journals.
