Laboratory usage: research
Various experimental activities are conducted on the ecology, biology and sustainable control measures for insect of agricultural and forestry interest, with a particular focus on recently introduced invasive insect pests. Of particular relevance is the research line on (eco)toxicology of synthetic and bio insecticides. Several aspects of pollinator biology and bee keeping are also investigated.
The laboratory is equipped with a chemical hood, a Potter spray tower, a precision balance, a fridge and various microscopes. Rearing rooms for insect pests, an electroantennograph, a wind tunnel and several olfactometers are also available.
